Forging new boundaries in design, rigging and spectacle

We were proud to support a powerful lineup of installations and performances at this year’s Mona Foma festival across Tasmania. Working alongside visionary artists and producers, Event Engineering brought structural expertise and creative problem-solving to some of the most striking works of the program.

Featured works included:

  • Ogoh-Ogoh: The Purging – A towering ritual effigy designed to be burned as part of a community-led cleansing ceremony. We provided structural oversight, fire safety consultation, and engineered the burn platform to ensure a safe and spectacular destruction.

  • Custody by Martiel Carlos – A powerful endurance performance exploring themes of confinement and resistance. We carried out the structural analysis and design, supporting the artist’s vision with precise, safety-led engineering.

  • Hilux Hang – An audacious sculptural stunt involving a Toyota Hilux suspended in space. Our team designed the bespoke rigging system and ensured compliance with engineering standards while maintaining the raw energy of the work.

From concept to execution, our role was to ensure each vision came to life safely, boldly, and without compromise. Mona Foma 2025 was a testament to what happens when art and engineering collaborate fearlessly.
