Jack Thompson Foundation

Housing Project 2017

The Jack Thompson Foundation Homeland Building Program addresses Unemployment and Housing shortages. The foundations projects seek to address these through an integrated learning program with practical on the ground skills. The aim is to facilitate the teaching of indigenous Australians, how to build their own houses out of the materials and resources available in their own country: the “living ground”.

Jack Thompson Foundation Way

The ‘Jack Thompson Foundation Way’ is a two-way concept, the “Living ground” and “Two-way learning” the use of these concepts in all we do ensures respect and preservation of cultural values, both in the project community and in the country as a whole.

Homelands Building Program

They gathered from the living ground” is a simple line from a poem that has been etched into Jack’s memory for many years.
